And yet another bubble hat - for Marian

Same thing as Nathania's bubble hat, only in Homespun Sierra, to match the shawl that she made on the magical wonder loom.

Colwick Cowl

Since Brett never asks for anything knitted, when he does, I need to do it. He told me he wanted a cowl in navy or brown, so I found a variety of free patterns and submitted for his approval. He picked Colwick and Cornflower from Ravelry. So I started with Colwick. Went to Dodge to get brown or navy yarn and came home with oatmeal and forest green. It took a day to do the cowl, and I only needed the second skein for the last 1 inch. So the cowl is one inch shorter.

CO 80 stitches
work 2 inches of 2x2 rib then stockinette
work until 10" from beginning
work 2 inches of 2x2 rib. bind off

Sorry about the old lady shot. Only model available *shrug*

Dishclothes

As odd as it seems, I really like home-knit dishclothes. They are a quick and dirty project; they are really comfortable to use; and you can color coordinate! I keep making them and giving them away to people who probably don't use them, but I do use them. So now I am making them for me. Will post pictures randomly

Ralphie's Hat

While we were watching "The Christmas Story" this year, Ryan said "You know what I want? I want a hat like Ralphie's only with a really long tail. Down to my butt." If you remember, when Ralphie takes his Red Ryder Rifle out to start shooting, he is wearing a grey, blue and red long tail hat. Well that was my assignment.

I found a pattern for a child's hat with long tail on Ravelry so proceeded to make some adjustments. Finished it and it wasn't tight enough to hold all that weight on his head. So I frogged the whole thing and made more adjustments . Had Ryan try it on and he didn't like the ribbing so I frogged the first three color bands and made more adjustments. Maybe I should make Mr Picky do it.

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Worsted
Needles: size 8 circular and dpn

I used this pattern of colors
15 rows of blue
15 rows of red
30 rows of grey

CO 80 stitches, work in 2x2 rib for 2 inches then start stockinette.

When work measures 5 inches, K8, K2tog around
work 30 rows, K7, K2tog
work 30 rows, K6, K2tog
work 30 rows, K5, K2tog
work 30 rows, K5, K2tog
work 30 rows, K4, K2tog
work 30 rows, K4, K2tog
work 30 rows, K3, K2tog
work 30 rows, K3, K2tog
then I ran out of grey yarn so
work 10 rows, K2, K2tog
work 10 rows, K1, K2tog
work 10 rows, K2tog
tie off and add pompom is desired

It really does reach his butt. You could make it shorter by decreasing the number of rows between decreases.

Cindy's Hat and Cowl

Cindy and Lonnie have been good friends to me for a long time. Lonnie is the instigator, as he was a fan of Mom's from the time he moved back to Oklahoma. She helped him relearn how to be a farmer and a friend. He has passed this connection on to me.

Cindy is shy; she rarely appears in public and when she does, she doesn't really chat it up. But she is part of the partnership and supports Lonnie in all his craziness. Sooooo ... here is her gift, to be bestowed when she returns from the grandkids in Virginia.

Yeah, the hat is the same as Nathania's bubble hat, but I love it so much I will probably make at least 5 more of them!

The cowl uses essentially the same pattern but CO 72 and work 5 rows of knit, 5 rows of purl. It is too big to be snuggy, but fits really nicely on the size 9 needles. I would probably do 65 stitches next time just for the snugness.

Nathania's Cover-up

When she started the fundraiser for the Lymphoma Society, Nathania promised her students that if she raised $5000 she would dye her hair purple, and if she raised $7500, she would shave her head in front of the entire school. Success!
Knowing that her bean would get cold, she requested hats to cover the bean, so here is my contribution.

The lovely Katina, postmistress extraordinaire, models for me.

Lion Brand Homespun
Color: Barrington (purple mix)
Needle: 6 circular, 9 circular and 8 dpns

CO 65 stitches on smaller needles
Pattern: purl 7 rows, knit 3 rows
Repeat pattern 2 more times
Work an extra pattern (10 rows) for some slouch
